We service families that have a child receiving radiation at the Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University. We provide recreational activities for children with cancer, and their families. We want families to be able to forget the challenges they face, even for a brief time. By giving these families an opportunity to have an “escape” from the harsh reality of cancer treatment, we hope to help families build fond memories and offer them much needed emotional support.
We want to assist parents in providing opportunities for their children to still be children despite chemo and radiation and the financial strain cancer places on families. We will send these families to various recreational activities such as; a day at the aquarium, the zoo, museums, sporting events, dinner, or even something as simple as a picnic lunch in the park. We hope these families will be able to look back on radiation and recall it as a “vacation” rather than endless days of treatment.
Radiation Vacation is a qualified 501(c)3 organization.
